Rebecca is a dancer, a poet, a performer and a movement facilitator, who is passionate about her work. She has a subtle, supportive and compassionate way of leading, creating a safe environment for group members to explore their inner wisdom. She believes we all possess a well of creativity that can help heal our lives... 'Don't wait for the storm to pass, dance in the rain!'
As a professional having taken part in Rebecca's dance sessions I have found them really inspiring and beneficial in bringing spontaneous insights and understanding about my own internal world and its interaction with the other. The use of the body through dance and movement, without any mental or verbal process involved, allowed me to access very quickly useful information about myself in relationship that it might have taken me much longer to access.
And above all, they are real fun!! Her gentle and professional ways of leading these sessions allowed me and the group to be spontaneous and meet a very liberating and enjoyable experience. Javier Rodriguez, Clinical Psychologist.
I have been dancing all my life. Having come from a classical background I trained at Bush Davies and Elmhurst Ballet School, where I studied classical ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance, singing and performance. I auditioned for 'The Place' London School of Contemporary Dance when I was seventeen. After a successful audition, they discovered I had a back problem and I was told to 'stop dancing'. I felt like my life-line had been cut off.
I soon discovered there was a whole world of creative movement. In this world I had to drop my learnt movement and move from a deep authentic place, a place of non-judgement and acceptance. I went on to do a creative dance training with Caroline Born based on the Anna Halprin theory. Dance became my healing journey and I felt inspired to help others. I've explored authentic movement, contact improvisation, Biodanza, rebirthing, creative writing and art forms, and have travelled to Guatamala for Trance Dance training. I have been facilitating groups for over twenty years and have built my own unique style of teaching which encourages self-exploration and can be explored and enjoyed by everyone! I currently work in Spain at the popular alternative holiday centre Cortijo Romero and give workshops in the U.K. I believe the creative arts help us all to enter into our inner core, to delve deep, to contact the child within. Accessing our unconscious can help us to unravel the messages we hold inside, enabling us to become more authentic and inspired human beings.
Movement is life, life is movement!
